The Pasay City government is planning to install close circuit televisions (CCTVs) in strategic areas to fight crime.
Mayor Wenceslao B. Trinidad said he will seek assistance from big business establishments in the city for the installation of the cctvs.
This, after National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Director Roberto Rosales underscored the importance of the cctvs in lowering the crime rate during his courtesy visit with Trinidad last April 16.
Rosales said records show that Pasay City has the lowest crime solution efficiency in the southern part of Metro Manila, followed by the cities of Paranque, Las Pinas and Muntinlupa.
He told Trinidad that initially the city government needs to fund the purchase of the cctvs which will cost P2 million.
Rosales said the involvement of the private sector in the project is crucial for its success. He urged all Metro Manila mayors to adopt the same philosophy which he said he found very effective while he was the director at the Manila Police District, where the police and the community cooperated in the use of technology to prevent and solve crimes.
