PADUA   He was born and raised in Brgy. 110 and 123. He together with his family lived in a small house in Facundo L. Medina Interior. He is the eldest among four sibling, his father was working as a Sergeant of the Philippine Navy and his mother was plain housewife.. Life wasn’t easy for him. At school, he wasn’t the studious type but loved reading and always came out on top of his class, his teachers even had doubts on how he kept on getting high grades when he wasn’t known for being studious and diligent. He Studied his Elementary at Padre Zamora Elementary School. Where he receive an Orator of the year during graduation After a while he was motivated by the hardships he was experiencing financially by his family and started to get serious with his studies and worked hard.. He would always come out of the honors list and achieved his goal of being the no.1 in the list. He gained his scholarship when he started high school and helped augment his family’s meager income. He graduated having the highest Grade of 94.7 in all honors equivalent to Salutatorian and Best in Physics, member of the Supreme Student Council and a Literary Editor of the school organization. At the age of 16, he would work as a helper in a hollow block maker during summer vacations. Being a smart boy that he is, he would volunteer to work the machines when the operator would get sick or be on leave even if he didn’t have any idea on how to use it. With great confidence, hard work and belief in his skills, he was able to promote as the machine operator getting three pesos a day. He studied College in Mapua as a scholar taking up Mechanical Engineering and get an honor of Best in Physics. However, it had been a struggle since he cannot afford to buy his books and support himself with his daily expenses. He worked at Bureau of Public works as a construction worker, getting fifty pesos a day where all his salary goes to his brothers and sisters needs. He worked as a salesperson in Carbros Refrigiration store and with hard work became a Sales Manager. He was then recruited by Cool-Rite as operations Manager at the age of 22. With his expertise and skills,the was recruited by Ranco Refrigeration as President and General Manager at the age of 23. Soon after, he was able to put up his own business at the age of 25, He was the Manager and sole owner of Reynaldo’s Marketing in 1976. He was the youngest millionaire at that time at the age of 28 with thirty two Reynaldo’s Marketing branches nationwide while venturing to other industries as well such as Grandbay Resort and RIA Resort. To expound his skills and expertise in this field he has taken up courses in Management and Entrepreneurship at the University of the Philippines,Ateneo de Manila and Asian Institute of Management, where he get 2 outstanding Leadership Award. He also took up advance course on finance management at FINEX( Financial Executive of Makati) where only few people are given the opportunity to study in the said course. He also took up different seminars on Comprehensive Feasibility study and Management by objective and also studied the renowned Sun Tzu Art of war and Japanese Art of War. He has helped different outreach programs including Mayon Volcano, Pinatubo and Baguio Earthquake operations. He helped different communities the best way he can. When his father died in 1988, he named his own foundation after him, Don Onofre Padua Foundation. He started helping Pasay City General Hospital, offering indigent financial and medical support to those patients in need, where he was awarded for his philanthropic deeds for the poor. His life in public service was widened as he became one of the executive officers of the Circle of Leaders of Mayor Pablo Cuneta. He has that his friend Lito Ibay lured him to join politics in 1995 due to his passion to help those people in need and he became Mayor’s one great leader. His story has truly inspired a lot of Pasayenos and has touched their lives with his life struggles that he won on his first attempt for a seat in the Pasay City Council and even landed on third place. He has continued his public service and extended his arms to more and more Pasayenos with different projects such as Libreng salamin, Full scholarships, Free Clinics and Medicines in different barangays, Wheelchairs, Artificial leg, Surgery assistance and sponsorship on hospitalizations and medical needs and more. He is one of the most loved and inspiring councilors in his time. His wisdom and his sincerity has brought him only good grace and great blessings as he continues to gain the trust of the people of pasay for almost ten years now. As the new elected Councilor of Pasay for 2007, he promise to give more services to Pasayenos specially to Senior Citizen. He believes that Pasay City will have prosperous years to come. VENDIVEL Office of the City Council Room 405, 4th Floor, Pasay City Hall 551-1943 Voted by a grateful electorate to a second term as Pasay City Councilor, Honorable Ian P. Vendivel vows to even step up his efforts to improve the lot of Pasayeños. Three years ago, after devoting a solid 28 years to pharmaceutical healthcare management, Vendivel left corporate life. Not to sneeze at was his position then as Vice-President and Marketing Director of Astellas Pharma Phils. Inc., a leading research-based Japanese pharmaceutical company. Vendivel opted to continue a mission he had embarked on earlier—public service—to which he had already devoted 31 years of his life. Vendivel was compelled by his Japanese principals to select only one of two options—one, his then newly elected position as Pasay City councilor and the other, his assumption to the presidency of Astellas in January 2008, a short six months away at that time. Unsolicited advice was skewed towards opting for the pinnacle of corporate life. Vendivel instead listened to his heart and the plight of his fellow Pasayeños. It was very clear and lucid to him that his destiny lay with serving his constituents. Ian Pineda Vendivel was born on August 7, 1960, during the Year of the Metal Rat. His father was Mr. Aurelio Feliciano Vendivel Sr. and his mother was Mrs. Liwayway Valeriano Pineda (both deceased). He has 3 brothers – Benny, Aboy (now deceased) and Aurelio Jr. – and 3 sisters – Melfi, Tina and Olga. The seven Vendivel children were raised by their parents at #537 Tengco Street, Pasay City, their ancestral home. Vendivel is married to Donnabel Melosantos. Their marriage has been blessed with two children – Brian Don and Ingrid Joy. Since his younger years, Vendivel has already been known as an achiever. He set a scorching pace for scholastic achievements during his elementary and high school years at the Malate Catholic School. He completed grade school as an honor student and first in Religion. In high school, he graduated second honorable mention, first in Religion, besides being Boy Scout leadership awardee. In college, Vendivel was a dean’s lister at the Philippine College of Criminology. Deciding to shift to a management course, he went on to be a consistent scholar, graduating as the most outstanding student of the College of Business Administration at the Lyceum of the Philippines. He had also served as President of the Lyceum Management Society for 2 consecutive years. While already a professional, Vendivel attended the Asian Institute of Management (AIM), where he was a Superior Performance Rank I Awardee in the Basic Management Program in 1991. While rising from the ranks in pharmaceutical marketing, Vendivel distinguished himself in an equally challenging field—public service—starting off by winning accolades for exemplary barangay leadership. At the age of 16, Vendivel started his career in public service as Kabataang Barangay Chairman of Barangay 108, Zone 12. When he turned 21, he won as 1st Kagawad of the same barangay. He would eventually become Barangay Captain of this same barangay in Pasay City. Vendivel has received a total of 42 sales and marketing awards from local and international award-giving bodies. He won the much-coveted award of the “Who’s Who in the World” as a Leader of Contemporary Society, which was awarded in New Jersey, U.S.A. in 1996. Recently, he was included in the 20th Edition of the Who’s Who in the World 2003 Publication. A string of leadership awards have come from different organizations. One of these, the Most Outstanding Filipino in the Professional Sector by the “Parangal ng Bayan” Award, was given for four consecutive years—1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002—elevating Vendivel to the Hall of Fame of Achievers of the organization. Rotary World and different media outfits have showered Vendivel with numerous public service awards. He won the Star Awards for Television as Most Outstanding Public Service Show Host with co-host Ms. Cielito “Mahal” Del Mundo. Their TV program “Mahal,” which also won as Most Outstanding Public Service Program, aired for 8 years on Channels 11 and 13. Vendivel’s socio-civic involvement continues with unmatched fervor. Already past president of the Rotary Club of Makati San Lorenzo, Vendivel is a member of the Board of Directors of Bangon Pasay Movement. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Philippine National Red Cross, Pasay Chapter. While serving as Vice Chairman of the National Association of Corruption Prevention Unit (NACPU) of the Office of the Ombudsman, Vendivel is also the Chairman of Citizens Crime Watch, Pasay City Chapter. A former member of the Lay Ministers’ Group of Sta. Clara Parish Church, Vendivel is a Third Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Council 4267 of Pasay City. At this stage, it’s all systems go for Vendivel with his programs and projects for Pasayeños.
